Small business Saturday is approaching on November 26th. This has encouraged me to reflect on all things local! Specifically- a few publications which are great FAMILY guides for what to do & where to shop around the northwest & Oregon. Below I’ve listed 3 of my favorite local publications fueled by local business which can serve you as a great resource for gaining more insight on local events and current issues right here in the Northwest.
1. NW Kids Magazine
NW Kids Magazine is 100% family owned and operated! NW Kids provides a comprehensive resource guides to family-friendly events and kids activities in the Portland, Oregon metro area. This monthly publication provides useful information and resource lists to help you stay in the know about our community. Saturday kicked off the start of what I like to refer to as ‘Man Week’ here at Meringue Boutique. While it is not official, I swear we never get as many men in our store as we have had in already this week. I know, I know- guys like to wait until the last minute to do their Christmas shopping (for whatever reason) and we @ Meringue are happy to help simplify it for you gentlemen out there. Thanksgiving is upon us and I’ve definitely been thinking about all of the wonderful things in my life that I am thankful for. Too often, we get bogged down with thoughts about what’s wrong with the world- what we don’t have, what we don’t like, etc. When really, if we all step back and look at our lives, we probably have it pretty good.
This Thanksgiving week, let us be thankful for what we have and spread that good feeling around to those that are less fortunate.
As you all know, since October 1st, Meringue Boutique in Salem + Lake Oswego has been collecting used designer denim to donate to women in local shelters in the Portland and Salem areas. Thanks to you, our generous + thoughtful customers, we have collected 134 pairs of designer jeans (as of today, 11/23)!
Plus, there’s still time left! We have a lofty goal of collecting 200 pair by November 30th, so please, if you have old designer denim collecting dust in your closets, bring ‘em in! For every pair you donate, we’ll give you 20% off new jeans that day AND a $25 gift card to use on something else (the gift card is good for a year).
