Remember the 1980’s?  Pop music, glam rock, shoulder pads, Aqua-Net hairspray, sky-high hair… gosh, it takes me back.  Many of us may cringe at some of our fashion choices from that decade, but unless you’ve been living under a rock, we know that the 80’s are back in a big, big way.  For years now we’ve been pulling on our leggings, skinny jeans and slouchy tunics- all trends that first came around in that infamous decade.  This season, you must find a way to add (gasp!) Juicy Couture is a line that appeals to every girly-girl! The first time I put on one of their signature tracksuits, I was smitten. In my downtime, I live in my snap-pocket pants. What a busy weekend we have ahead of us?! The 4th of July is a fun, sun-filled holiday to be enjoyed with family and friends and I have the low-down on what is going on in Salem and Lake Oswego this weekend.

In Salem, join the City of Salem @ 11:00 am on Saturday July 4th for the dedication and opening ceremony of the Riverfront Park Splash Fountain.  The fountain is being dedicated to all of the children in the City of Salem.  What a fun way to start out the day- bring the kids and beat the heat by taking a dip in the fountain!  Click here for details on this event.

If Lake Oswego is more of your neighborhood, we have plenty going on up here too…  Tomorrow night (July 3rd) @ 6:15 pm, join us for the Millenium Band Concert in downtown’s Millennium Park.  The 4th starts with the Lake Oswego Lions Club Pancake Breakfast @ George Rogers Park (7 am-12 noon), followed by the Farmer’s Market that runs from 8:30 am until 1:30 pm.  At 10 am the PARADE begins!  This family-friendly parade welcomes all to join in- bring your decorated bikes, wagons and pets and join in the fun!  The day winds down with a spectacular fireworks show over the lake at approximately 9:45 pm.  On Sunday July 5th, come check out the Oswego Lake Slalom & Wakeboard Competition @ Lakewood Bay from 10:00 am until 4:00 pm.  Click here for the weekend’s full list of events.
